cork

y’ever get home from a thrifting outing all psyched cuz you got a wicked cool skruf sweden decanter for one dollar and then you suddenly realize why it was one dollar and why it was at the thrift store?
well, i have.
that cork ain’t budging. she’s never coming out.

i’d look around on the ol internet if I were you. I’m sure there’s a DIY scientific way to get that baby out of there. Probably a youtube video too! And probably a place to get a replacement cork, should the current one not make it through the extraction process. Good luck!
i dunno, man. science would dictate cold to contract, so i suppose i could put it in the fridge and see if the cork shrinks. but seriously, that cork won’t budge. and the glass is sooooo delicate, i’m afraid of the whole thing shattering and slicing up my fingers or worse. i can’t afford to sever a limb at this stage of the game. that’d rot.
Do you have a drill? Maybe if you drilled a LOT of holes, close together, in the cork, you could then push the drilled pieces out and it would weaken the whole cork, allowing it to come out.

yes, i suppose that’d work wonders, but i kinda love the looks of that cork, don’t you? i think i’ll just keep it as is for now and if i find it necessary to decant my boxed wine, well then, i have six other decanters to choose from. always the girls scout.

It’s a BEAUTIFUL piece for sure…..You could try filling a large bucket / sink with Luke warm water & soak it….You’d need to roll it over after an hour or so to ensure an even ‘soaking’ if you like….It might just relieve the pressure….In any case, it works for me when I’m stuck….hahahaha….**wink**….!!
