outdoor artPosted: July 29, 2010
driving back from jersey we hit some stop and go traffic on I-95. rather than end the birthday celebration in high-volume traffic, we opted to take the new haven exit to grab some lunch and extend the birthday festivites. i had wanted to eat at a restaurant i’d heard good things about (zinc,) but upon getting there, it was closed.
so – we’re standing there at zinc, see it’s closed, see that they’ve opened up a sister pizzeria (kitchen zinc, clever) located in the back, down an alley. i glanced down the alley and i literally jumped back. this is THE ALLEY where an outdoor art installation created by felice varini was located, where i had wanted to try and find after reading about it a month or so ago on design crisis. (seriously, click on that link and read about it. the pics and how-tos are incredible.) and then *WABAM* here it was staring me right in the face.
yet another unexpected birthday treat for me.
we managed to find an open restaurant.
and we managed to beat the heat.
the traffic, on the other hand, was still waiting for us several hours later.
in crafting news – i’m cutting little itty bitty teeny tiny pieces of scrap fabric. it is endless fun.
and when i say endless, i mean endless. and when i say fun, i mean hell.
